Rolo Pretzel Recipe for Halloween
If you haven’t tried these easy to make Rolo pretzel bites yet with monster eyeballs you are in for a treat!
They taste as good as they look with the salty crunch of the pretzel contrasting and pairing so well with the rich, sweet caramel Rolo chocolate. There so good!
They strike a perfect balance of a sweet and salty flavors, with each bite having a wonderful mix of crunchy and creamy textures! Similar to my halloween bark.
Ingredients
- Rolos – dark chocolate Rolos
- Pretzel Snaps
- M&M’s – Halloween M&M candy
- Candy Eyes – large candy eyes
Substitutions: Want to switch it up? Instead of Rolos, you can use mini peanut butter cups or soft caramels.
Instead of pretzel snaps, you can use mini twists, pretzel waffles (rounds), pretzel crisps, or pretzel flats.
For more variety, you can top some of the Rolos with candy corn or nuts.
How To Make Halloween Pretzels
STEP ONE – Preheat the oven to 250°F and line two baking trays with parchment paper.
(I like to work in two batches so that I have time to assemble the Rolo pretzels before the outer chocolate starts to harden back up. If it starts to harden then it can cause more cracks when pressing the eyeballs and M&Ms into it.)
STEP TWO – Place 18 pretzels onto the prepared tray (or however many you’d like to make).
STEP THREE – Then add the unwrapped Rolos onto each pretzel.
STEP FOUR -Bake for about 2-3 minutes, enough to soften the Rolos but not fully melt it.
STEP FIVE – Remove from the oven and then immediately press a candy eye or M&M on top.
STEP SIX – Transfer the other tray into the oven and repeat the process.
STEP SEVEN – Allow to set completely before serving, about 20-30 minutes at room temperature or refrigerate it for 10-15 minutes to speed up the process.
Tips & Tricks
- Do not bake for too long as the chocolate will overmelt. And also, do not bake at too high of a heat, otherwise the outer chocolate on the Rolos will bubble up.
Storage Instructions
Store Rolo pretzels in an airtight container for up to one week.
