Ingredients
- Yellow Onion – thinly sliced
- Cream Cheese
- Sour Cream
- Mayonnaise
- Butter – unsalted butter
- Chives – sliced
- Salt and Black Pepper – to taste
How To Make Caramelized Onion Dip Recipe
STEP ONE – Peel and thinly slice onions.
STEP TWO – On medium-high heat melt the butter and add the sliced onions. Stir occasionally. Lower the heat when they start to brown. Continue to cook on medium-low heat. This process can take about 20-25 minutes until lightly browned.
STEP THREE – In a food processor, add the cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, and season with salt and pepper, and process until smooth.
STEP FOUR – Once your onions are caramelized, let them cool off for 5 minutes, and then add to the dip in the processor and pulse for just a second to mix the onions in.
Serve with chips and enjoy!
Can I make Onion Dip Ahead Of Time?
Yes you can, it is a perfect dip to make ahead of time for a party. For the best flavor it is best to serve this dip within 2 to 3 days of making it stored in the fridge to allow the flavors to meld together.
Storage Instructions
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 4 to 5 days. Give it a good stir before serving from the fridge.

2 yellow onions
4 oz cream cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup mayonnaise
3 tbsp unsalted butter
1 tbsp chives, sliced
1/4 tsp salt, or to taste
1/4 tsp black pepper, or to taste
Instructions
