Easy Homemade Honey Butter

This Easy Homemade Honey Butter in a jar recipe adds a wonderful sweetness and creamy depth of flavor to anything you use it with. The savory rich taste of the butter balances the natural sweet floral notes of the honey perfectly to spread smoothly on toast or cornbread.

Perfect with my sweet cornbread, Mexican cornbread, homemade white bread, herbed beer bread, artisan bread and Starbucks cranberry orange scones during the holidays.

The first time I tried cornbread with honey butter I thought where have you been all my life. It’s that good!!

Butter is already a great pairing with cornbread but honey butter takes it to another level of deliciousness.

It is so versatile to use in both sweet and savory dishes and enhances a wide range of foods.

  • Honey Butter on Cornbread – my favorite way to enjoy whipped honey butter
  • Honey Butter on Meat – it is great sauce or glaze for brushing on meat like fried chicken, salmon, chicken, burgers, pork chops and the holiday Thanksgiving ham or turkey

Ingredients

  • Butter – 1 cup of unsalted butter at room temperature, if you prefer to use salted butter do not add the salt until you taste the butter to see if you think it is needed for your tastes
  • Honey – you can also use maple syrup which I find to be just as good but with a maple flavoring
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Salt

Optional Garnish

  • Ground Cinnamon for a garnish or you can make a Texas Roadhouse Copycat recipe of honey cinnamon butter by adding 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon in this recipe
  • Honey – drizzle a little bit of extra honey on top as a garnish or for more sweetness

How to make honey butter – 3 Easy Steps!

STEP ONE – In a large mixing bowl using a handheld mixer, beat the butter until smooth.

STEP TWO – Add the honey, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat for an additional 1-2 minutes until well combined.

STEP THREE – Transfer to a serving bowl and drizzle a little extra honey and garnish with ground cinnamon if desired. Serve with cornbread, toast, scones, English muffins, or even pancakes. Enjoy!

Storage instructions

Store honey butter in an airtight container or in a mason jar with the lid on in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

To spread it more easily take it out of the fridge 10 to 15 minutes before serving.

Freeze using a freezer-safe container or wrapped in plastic then a freezer-bag for up to 3 months.

Thaw overnight in the fridge before using.

It is best to consume honey butter at room temperature within 2 to 3 days to avoid it spoiling especially with warm kitchen temperatures.
