Apple dump cake on white plate with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. this recipe!

Like my peach dump cake and pumpkin spice dump cake, this delicious fall dessert is just a great way to get those fall vibes going.

Although we still have a few more days of summer left, once the aroma of apples and warming spices filled the kitchen, I was all-in for fall!

    Ingredients/Shopping List

Ingredients for apple dump cake on marble board with text overlay.
    • Spice Cake Mix - we like to use Betty Crocker or you can use any of your favorite brand.
    • Apple Pie Filling
    • Butter
    • Pecans - fresh pecans or walnuts add a nice crunch to this easy dump cake recipe.

    Step by Step Instructions

Apple pie filling in white baking dish.

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

Next, spread apple filling in an even layer in the prepared baking pan. It doesn't have to be perfect, just smooth it out as much as possible.

Cake mix is sprinkled on top of apple pie filling in white baking dish.

Open the cake mix and sprinkle the dry cake mix over top of the apple mixture.

Melted butter and pecans are added on top of the spice cake mix in white baking dish.

Pour the melted butter over the dry cake mix. Lift up the baking dish and carefully tilt it back and forth to spread out the melted butter. Don't worry if there are a few patches of dry cake mix still showing, these will cook during the baking time.

    Sprinkle with chopped pecans.

Apple piece dump cake on white plate with scoop of vanilla ice cream and fork on the side.

Bake in 350°F oven for 50 to 55 minutes. The pie filling should be bubbling over at the edges.

Cool for a few minutes, then serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. A drizzle of caramel sauce is also a nice touch if you like things sweet!

    Storage Instructions

Store cooled leftover apple dump cake in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to four days.
