Ingredients for Homemade French Fries in the Air Fryer

Labelled ingredients for homemade air fryer french fries.

Russet potatoes – have a low water content and are the best for crispy french fries. They will resemble the flavor of restaurant fries the most.

Fresh garlic vs garlic powder – definitely recommend fresh here!

Avocado oil – or you can substitute olive oil.

Kosher salt

Black pepper

Paprika

Grated parmesan cheese – you can use grated or finely shredded parmesan cheese. Fresh or bottled will work.

Fresh parsley

Do I need to soak the potatoes in water?

While you ‘can’ soak the potatoes in water for 30 minutes to remove some of the starch, you do not have to in this recipe. Soaking can result in extra-crispy garlic fries.

The fries do not have to be in a single layer, but I would limit to a few rows. You will have to make a few batches.

How do I store leftover french fries?

Store leftovers in the fridge in airtight container for up to 3 days. The fries will get soggy, but you can place them back in the air fryer at 400°F for 10 minutes, or until crispy.

What are the best potatoes for crispy homemade french fries?

Russet potatoes and Yukon gold potatoes are the best since they are higher in starch, which will help with that crispy exterior.
