Ingredients

1 lb. ground breakfast sausage

(1) 8 count refrigerated biscuits

1/4 cup butter

1/4 cup all purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Pinch of red pepper flakes

2 cups whole milk

6 large eggs

1/4 cup heavy cream

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Step by Step Instructions

Cooked sausage in skillet.
Melted butter and flour in saucepan.
Milk is adde to the saucepan.

STEP ONE – Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray a 9×13 baking dish with nonstick spray and set aside.

STEP TWO – In a large skillet, cook and crumble the ground sausage until cooked through. Drain and set aside.

STEP THREE – In a medium saucepan, heat the butter until melted.

STEP FOUR – Whisk in the flour and cook 1-2 minutes.

STEP FIVE – Add the salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.

STEP SIX – Slowly add the milk, whisking as you add.

STEP SEVEN – Cook on medium heat, whisking frequently, until gravy thickens.

Biscuits are chopped into pieces.
Sausage is sprinkled on top of the biscuits in pan.
Cheese is sprinkled on top of the biscuits and sausage.

STEP EIGHT – Take the biscuits and cut each one into quarters. Layer these in the bottom of the 9×13.

STEP NINE – Take about 1/4 of the cooked crumbled sausage and stir it into the gravy.

STEP TEN – Sprinkle the remaining sausage over top of the biscuits.

STEP ELEVEN – Sprinkle the shredded cheese over top.

STEP TWELVE – In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together 6 eggs and the heavy cream.

STEP THIRTEEN – Pour this over top of the biscuits, sausage, and cheese.

STEP FOURTEEN – Finally, pour the gravy over top of everything.

STEP FIFTEEN – Bake for 35-40 minutes, until cooked through. You can check by inserting a fork in the center and making sure the biscuit dough is cooked through.
