This pumpkin cheese ball combines a blend of cheese, ranch seasoning and green onions that is shaped like a pumpkin and coated with shredded cheese.  A fun, festive appetizer for Thanksgiving and other fall parties.

Pumpkin-Shaped Cheese Ball

This cheese ball may look like a pumpkin but it has no pumpkin flavoring in it. The only thing pumpkin about it is its cute shape!

This fun appetizer requires only a few simple cheese ball ingredients to make and it always the first appetizer to disappear at fall parties. It would look adorable in the middle of a fall charcuterie board!

  • Cream cheese
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Ranch seasoning
  • Green onions
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Bell pepper stem
    Supplies: Twine to create the pumpkin shape

How to Make Pumpkin Cheese Ball

STEP ONE – In a medium mixing bowl, spread the cream cheese around to soften.

STEP TWO – Add 1 cup of shredded cheese, ranch seasoning mix, and green onions. Salt and pepper to taste.

STEP THREE – Mix until well combined and ingredients are evenly distributed.

STEP FOR – Form the cheese mixture into a ball.

STEP FIVE – Spread out a piece of plastic wrap, and add a sprinkle of cheese for the bottom of the cheeseball.

STEP SIX – Press remaining shredded cheese into the sides of the ball until it is completely covered.

STEP SEVEN – Wrap the ball in the plastic wrap.

STEP EIGHT – Use baker’s twine to tie 3 strands around the pumpkin to form a pumpkin shape, if desired. (alternatively, you can shape it into a ball)

Before serving, top the cheeseball with the bell pepper stem.

Tips & Tricks

  • Use a block of shredded cheese and shred it yourself. The texture will be better for sticking to the cheese ball.
  • Use block cream cheese vs. spreadable so that it will firm up nicely in the fridge

Storage Instructions

Wrap and store any leftover cheese ball in the fridge for 5 to 7 days.

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

2 Tablespoons ranch seasoning

3 green onions, sliced

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 bell pepper stem

Optional: twine to create pumpkin shape
