Cake Mix Brownies with M&M’s

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 1 box cake mix. I used Duncan Hines Devil’s Food cake mix (15.25 ounces)
  • ½ cup (1 stick) salted butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup mini M&M, divided

Step by Step Instructions

Remaining M&M's are sprinkled on top of the batter spread out in cakke pan.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Butter and line a 9×9 baking dish with parchment paper. Set aside.
  3. In a bowl, add the cake mix, pour the melted butter, and add eggs. Mix until all ingredients are combined.
  4. Add the chocolate chips and half of the M&M. Mix well.
  5. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining of the M&M on top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 23-25 minutes.
  8. The brownies are baked when the edges are set, and the center is soft. 
  9. Cool completely in the pan.

These brownies are meant to be fudgy. When they are baked, the edges will look set and pulled away from the pan, but the middle still look soft, but not jiggly. 

I used a 9×9 baking dish. If you are using an 8×8 baking dish or a 9×13 baking dish, the cooking time will vary as they will be either thicker or thinner.

Storage Instructions

The brownies will last at room temperature for 3-5 days when stored in an airtight container or in the fridge for up to 1 week.
