The best part is they are quick and easy to make, using only four ingredients, for a fun treat to whip up for the holidays with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Ingredients to make Christmas rolo pretzel bites in small glass bowls on counter.
  • Pretzel Snaps – also use mini twists or pretzel waffle rounds, crisps and flats
  • Rolo’s – milk chocolate Rolo’s or use dark salted caramel Rolo’s
  • White Melting Wafers – Ghirardelli white vanilla melting wafers, or use a different color
  • Christmas Sprinkles – use your favorite Christmas sprinkle mix

Substitutions & Variations: You can use any Rolo flavor. Try it with different chocolates such as mini peanut butter cups, Hershey’s kisses, Milkyway, or even Cadbury chocolate squares. Also can use almond bark or white chocolate chips instead of melting wafers. Instead of sprinkles, melt and drizzle green, red, and white candy melts to change things up.

How To Make Rolo Pretzel Sandwiches

Step One – Preheat the oven to 250° F and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Step Two – Place 40 pretzel snaps onto the prepared baking sheet in a single layer. Then top each pretzel with an unwrapped Rolo. Transfer to the oven and bake for 3-4 minutes, until the Rolos have softened but are not fully melted.

Step Three – Remove from the oven and top each Rolo with another pretzel snap. Gently push it down to flatten the Rolo and make a sandwich. Don’t flatten it too much so that the Rolo will spill out from the sides. Transfer the tray to the refrigerator and chill for about 20 minutes, until the chocolate hardens back up.

Step Four – Melt the candy wafers in a bowl in the microwave on a low or defrost setting in 30 second increments, until smooth. Stir at each interval for even heating.

Step Five – Remove the chilled Rolo pretzel sandwiches from the refrigerator and dip each of the sandwiches halfway into the melted vanilla wafers. Gently shake off any excess coating and then place the sandwich back onto the prepared baking sheet and immediately top with the sprinkles. (Because the sandwiches were chilled, the coating will set quickly so work fast.)

Step Six – Repeat coating and decorating the remaining sandwiches and then transfer the tray back into the refrigerator to chill for an additional 10-20 minutes, just until the outer coating completely sets. Serve and enjoy!
