VANILLA CAKE TRUFFLES
If you’re new to making cake truffles or cake pops, once you try one batch, you’ll want to make them for every holiday! These vanilla cake balls are also quick and easy to make and a tasty treat to enjoy year round.
Starbuck’s has their famous pink cake pops that we can’t seem to resist every time we go there for coffee. They’d be ideal for Valentine’s Day too!
Ingredients
- Boxed cake mix – we like to use any type of vanilla, or you could use yellow cake mix in a pinch.
- Eggs
- Vegetable Oil
- Water
- Cream Cheese
- Candy Melts
- Pink gel food coloring
Step by Step Instructions
STEP ONE – Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13×9 baking pan and set aside.
STEP TWO – In a large mixing bowl, whisk together cake mix, egg, water, and oil.
STEP THREE – Add in food coloring and whisk until well incorporated.
STEP FOUR – Pour cake batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 25-35 minutes.
STEP FIVE – While cake bakes set out your cream cheese so it can warm up.
STEP SIX – Let the cake cool for 15-20 min.
STEP SEVEN – Crumble cake into a large bowl and add cream cheese.
STEP EIGHT – Beat with a mixer until cream cheese is well incorporated and a dough texture has formed.
STEP NINE – Shape dough into 1 in balls, and then shape balls into hearts.
STEP TEN – Melt the pink candy melts per package instructions.
STEP ELEVEN – Dip each heart into pink candy melts and set on parchment paper.
STEP TWELVE – Place a few red and white candy melts into sandwich bags and melt in the microwave, squishing the bag to get all the chunks melted.
STEP THIRTEEN – Cut a tiny piece of the corner off the baggie and drizzle red and white on the corner of each covered heart.
Storage Instructions
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.
