These easy Glazed Apple Pie Bars have a delicious butter crust with canned apple pie filling with a tasty simple glaze on top. This is the perfect fall dessert recipe for family gatherings and potluck dinners!

Three apple pie bars on white plate. this recipe!

These apple pie bars are similar to slab pie with no pie crusts!! The dough is really easy to make using canned apple pie filling just makes this recipe a breeze to make!

This is the perfect dessert for a large group of people, making a large batch of 60 small or 30 large pieces.

    Ingredients

Labelled ingredients for apple pie bars on marble board with text overlay.
    • Butter - softened at room temperature. Take butter out of the refrigerator 30 to 60 minutes before you start the recipe.
    • Sugar - granulated sugar is used in this recipe.
    • Salt
    • Eggs - eggs should be at room temperature. Take them out of the refrigerator 30 to 60 minutes before you start the recipe.
    • Vanilla extract - I like to use pure vanilla extract for best flavor.
    • Apple pie filling
    • All purpose flour
    • Powdered sugar
    • Milk - you can use 1%, 2% or whole milk for the glaze.

How to Make Glaze Apple Pie Bars

Grease a 15x10x1-inch baking pan. Preheat oven to 350°F.

I recommend using a stand mixer or any type of electric mixer of this recipe. The butter and sugar need to be creamed for 5 to 7 minutes in the first step of the recipe which would be tiring for hand mixing. Keep in mind that if you decide to make it by hand, you need to mix the butter and sugar for about 12 minutes!

Butter and sugar in mixing bowl with paddle attachment from stand mixer.

Grease a 15x10x1-inch baking pan. Preheat oven to 350°F.

In a large mixing bowl, or bowl from stand mixer, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar and salt for 5 to 7 minutes until light and fluffy. The mixture should be light and lemon-colored.

Creamed butter mixture with egg and vanilla added to it.

Next, add in the eggs, one a time beating well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.

Flour is added to butter mixture in mixing bowl from stand mixture.

Gradually add in the all purpose flour, one cup at a time, stirring just until combined.

Unbaked apple pie bars in jelly roll pan, ready to go into the oven.

Remove 3 cups of the dough and spread in prepared baking pan. (My pan was a bit larger and I didn't go all the way to the edges). It's easy to press down gently with clean hands to spread out the dough evenly.

Top with both cans of apple pie filling, leaving about 1 and ½-inches around the edge.

Drop the remaining dough by teaspoonfuls over the apple pie filling. A small cookie scoop works great!

Bake in 350°F oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until light golden brown.

Cool completely in pan on wire cooling rack.

    For Glaze:

In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla extract and enough milk to reach desired consistency. Drizzle over top of cooled bars.

These bars are equally delicious served warm or at room temperature the next day. It's the perfect dessert to enjoy with a dollop of whipped cream or warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
