Substitutions & Variations: Use any Doritos flavor of your choice or Fritos corn chips in place of the tortillas chips. Add sliced jalapeños or avocado to the toppings. Use your favorite cheese like cheddar cheese or Monterey Jack in place of the Mexican cheese blend. If you like to spice things up use a spicy salsa. You can use ground chicken instead of ground beef.

  1. Hi!

I made this tonight for my husband and myself and it was delicious! We ate it on tortilla shells with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, onions and sour cream. We are not fond of black beans so I used pinto beans and they added a lot of flavor. And, it was so easy to put together. Thanks for sending it to me.

  2. I have been making this for years. The one thing I do differently is I put some of the salsa in the bottom of the dish then a thin layer of chips before the beef it makes a nice little crust on the bottom. And I do a couple of layers like lasagna. So salsa, chips, beef and beans if you mix the refried beans in it lays much better. then cheese of course. It cuts like a lasagna
