White Cheddar Mac & Cheese

Description

This creamy, cheesy Stovetop White Cheddar Mac & Cheese recipe is a simple side dish or main course that will on the table in 25 minutes! The easy homemade cheese sauce will have everyone coming back for seconds!


Ingredients

3 cups dry Small Shell Pasta

1/4 cup Butter

3 tablespoons Flour

1/2 teaspoon Mustard Powder

Salt & Black Pepper, to taste

1 3/4 cups Milk

2 cups Extra Sharp White Cheddar Cheese, freshly shredded

4 ounces White American Cheese (about 6 slices)


Instructions

  1. Start by boiling water for the pasta and adding the pasta in when boiling, cook for 7-9 minutes or until al dente.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, melt the butter on medium to low heat, then whisk in the flour and spices to start the roux.
  3. Add the milk slowly, while continuing to whisk, the mixture should stay slightly thick the entire time.
  4. Then add the cheeses until they are melted and turn to low heat.
  5. Strain the pasta and add into the cheese mixture. Stir until all pasta is covered with the cheese sauce.
  6. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Reheat in the microwave, or on the stove, until thoroughly warm.
