Star-Spangled Fruit Salad

Description

This red, white, and blue fruit salad is the perfect way to celebrate summer! Bursting with sweet, juicy fruit, it’s a refreshing and colorful dish for the 4th of July, Memorial Day, or any sunny picnic with family. Serve it chilled and watch it disappear—everyone’s going to love it!


Ingredients

1 apple, sliced and cut into star shapes

1 lb strawberries, quartered

1 lb blueberries


Instructions

  1. Rinse strawberires and cut into quarters. Place in large mixing bowl.
  2. Rinse the blueberries and add to the bowl with the strawberries. Toss gently to mix. 
  3. Wash the apple and cut into slices. Use a small star-shaped cookie cutter to cut out stars from the apple slices. 
  4. Add the apples to the bowl with the other fruit. Toss gently to mix being careful not to crush the fruit. 
  5. Chill, then serve & enjoy!

Notes

Preparing in advance? To keep the apples from browning, prepare a lemon water bath by combining 1 tablespoon of lemon juice with 1 cup of water in a large shallow bowl. Set it aside and dip the apple slices in as you prep the salad.
