Description
Fresh green beans in a creamy mushroom sauce, topped with shredded cheddar and crispy French’s onion rings, this classic holiday side dish is a must for every holiday dinner.
Ingredients
1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup diced onion
1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
2 cups sliced fresh green beans
3 cups chicken broth
1 10-1/4 oz. can cream of mushroom soup
1 2.8 oz. can French’s Fried Onion Rings
Pinch salt and pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup grated Cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Lightly grease a 2-quart baking dish.
- In a large pot, bring 3 cups of chicken broth to a boil. Add green beans and boil in chicken broth for 10 to 13 minutes until crisp-tender.
- Meanwhile, in a large skillet, melt butter and add in sliced mushrooms and chopped onions. Sauté until tender, about 5 to 7 minutes.
- To the skillet, add green beans, cream of mushroom soup, garlic powder, salt, pepper and 1/3 cup of the French fried onions. Stir to combine.
- Spread mixture in prepared 2 quart baking dish.
- Bake in 350°F oven for 20 minutes.
- Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese and continue cooking for 10 more minutes.
- Sprinkle with remaining fried onion rings and enjoy.
