Description

This easy Homemade White Bread with yeast recipe has the perfect soft texture and delicious flavor with just 6 simple ingredients that you have in your pantry. There is nothing like making and serving your family fresh homemade bread free of preservatives.


Ingredients

5 cups hot water
5 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons yeast

2 teaspoons salt
2/3 cup shortening or vegetable oil

12 cups all-purpose flour


Instructions

  1. Prepare 4 loaf pans with a thin layer of cold butter on the bottoms and sides of four 8×4- inch or 9×5-inch loaf pans or spray with cooking spray.

  2. In a large bowl mix warm water with sugar and yeast. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes or until frothy.

  3. Add salt, vegetable oil, and 6 cups of flour. Mix with a handheld mixer on medium- low speed for five minutes.

  4. Add 6 more cups of flour and mix thoroughly with a wooden spoon.

  5. Leaving the spoon in the bowl, cover the dough with a glass plate or plastic wrap until the dough has doubled in size.

  6. Mix the dough down and let it rest for 10 minutes. Repeat this step four times.

  7. Place dough on an oiled countertop. Divide it into four equal pieces and shape it into smooth balls.
  8. Press dough with your hands or use a rolling pin to form dough into a rectangle about 8 wide and 12 inches long.
  9. Roll up the dough from the short and tuck the seam side down. Place the roll into the prepared bread pan and rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 30-45 minutes.
