Ingredients
5 cups hot water
5 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons yeast
2 teaspoons salt
2/3 cup shortening or vegetable oil
12 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions

Prepare 4 loaf pans with a thin layer of cold butter on the bottoms and sides of four 8×4- inch or 9×5-inch loaf pans or spray with cooking spray.

In a large bowl mix warm water with sugar and yeast. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes or until frothy.

Add salt, vegetable oil, and 6 cups of flour. Mix with a handheld mixer on medium- low speed for five minutes.

Add 6 more cups of flour and mix thoroughly with a wooden spoon.

Leaving the spoon in the bowl, cover the dough with a glass plate or plastic wrap until the dough has doubled in size.

Mix the dough down and let it rest for 10 minutes. Repeat this step four times.
- Place dough on an oiled countertop. Divide it into four equal pieces and shape it into smooth balls.
- Press dough with your hands or use a rolling pin to form dough into a rectangle about 8 wide and 12 inches long.
- Roll up the dough from the short and tuck the seam side down. Place the roll into the prepared bread pan and rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 30-45 minutes.
