This easy Guacamole recipe, made with simple, fresh ingredients offers vibrant flavors for a popular dip with tortilla chips. The creamy, bright and zesty flavors of avacado, lime and cilantro is a perfect dip for parties or a topping on tacos, nachos or Tex Mex recipes.
Ingredients
3 ripe avocados
1 small red onion
1-2 cloves fresh garlic
1-2 tomatoes
1 jalapeño (optional, for heat)
1 lime
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp fresh cilantro (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Juice the lime.
- Using a fork or potato masher, mash the avocado to your desired consistency—smooth or chunky.
- Add the chopped red onion, minced garlic, diced tomatoes, and chopped jalapeño (if using) to the bowl.
- Stir in the lime juice, salt, and black pepper.
- Optionally, stir in fresh chopped cilantro for added flavor.Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.Serve immediately with tortilla chips, or as a topping for tacos, nachos, or any dish you like.
Notes
Storage instructions: To store guacamole in the fridge, transfer it to an airtight container and smooth the surface to remove air pockets. Press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the guacamole or add a thin layer of lime juice or water on top to prevent browning. Seal the container tightly and refrigerate. It should stay fresh for 1-2 days, and when you’re ready to use it, pour off any excess liquid and stir before serving.
