Cake Mix Apple Cobbler with Fresh Apples

Description

This Cake Mix Apple Cobbler with Fresh Apples is a great way to enjoy freshly-picked apples! With only a few simple ingredients, this easy fall dessert recipe is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth!


Ingredients

6 cups chopped and sliced apples

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 Yellow Cake Mix (15.25 ounces)

1/2 cup pecans, coarsely chopped

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup butter, melted


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. 
  2. Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray for baking. 
  3. Peel and core apples., then slice and dice them.  I like to do a mix of both slicing and dicing for an interesting texture. 
  4. In a large mixing bowl, toss apples with brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Spread apple mixture in prepared baking dish.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, use a pastry cutter (or clean hands) to combine the cake mix and melted butter.  Mixture should be crumbly and will clump nicely together in small chunks.  Sprinkle mixture on top of apple layer. 
  6. Sprinkle pecans over top of cake mix layer. 
  7. Bake in 350°F oven for 50 to 55 minutes.  Edges will be bubbly and top will be a light golden brown. 
  8. Transfer to cooling rack and allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.  
  9. Delicious when topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Store cooled dessert wrapped in plastic wrap in refrigerator for up to four days.
