Description

This easy Baked Beans with Ground Beef recipe makes a delicious budget friendly dish. Bursting with flavors, the hearty, tender ground beef pairs so well with the creamy beans in every single mouthwatering bite. These loaded baked beans are one of the best bbq side dishes to serve with hamburgers, ribs, grilled chicken or hot dogs at picnics and potlucks.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (93% lean)

2.5 ounces pre-cooked bacon, cut into pieces

3 (15 ounces) cans pork and beans, drained

1 cup yellow onion, chopped

½ cup ketchup

½ cup barbecue sauce

¼ cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar

1 tablespoon yellow mustard

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° F.
  2. In a large cast iron skillet add the ground beef and bacon. Over medium heat cook for 5 to 7 minutes or until the juices run clear. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Transfer the remainder of the ingredients to the skillet.
  4. Stir until everything is incorporated.
  5. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes.
  6. For one-pot stovetop cooking follow the instructions above until step 4. Continue to cook them on the stovetop over a medium-low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. (To cook them while camping, for a bbq or picnic, you can make them ahead of time and reheat over the fire or grill. You can also follow the stovetop instructions to cook them on the spot.)
  7. To cook in the crockpot follow the step by step instructions in the oven through step 2. Then transfer the ingredients to the crockpot, stirring until incorporated. Cook on high for 1 hour or slow cook on low for 2 to 3 hours.

Notes

Storage and reheating instructions:

Store by using an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Reheat using a microwave-safe dish with 30 second intervals in the microwave until heated through. Or in a pan on the stovetop over a medium heat, stirring until heated through.
