Description

Rum Balls are a perfect bite-sized popular holiday treat, with a rich chocolate cake-like texture and a warm boozy kick from the rum. These easy-to-make no bake rum balls are decorated to impress any guests after a holiday dinner and are one of the most sought-after cherished holiday food gifts to receive.


Ingredients

3 cups finely ground vanilla wafers

1 1/2 cups finely ground pecans

1 cup powdered sugar

1/4 cups cocoa

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup rum

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 tablespoons light corn syrup

Additional powdered sugar, cocoa, nuts, or sprinkles for coating


Instructions

  1. Stir together wafers, pecans, sugar, cocoa and salt until thoroughly combined.
  2. Add rum, vanilla, and corn syrup, stir until thoroughly combined, and no dry bits remain.
  3. Roll into tablespoon size balls, or weight 20 grams of mixture and roll, place on parchment lined baking sheet until ready to coat.  Coat balls in your choice of powdered sugar, cocoa, ground pecans, or sprinkles.

Notes

How to store rum balls? Rum balls can be stored at room temperature for up to 5 days in an air-tight container, or up to 10 days in the refrigerator.

We like them best stored in the fridge, they stay together better and the flavors meld together for better flavor.

You can let them to sit out at room temperature for 20 minutes before serving.

Can you freeze rum balls? Rum balls freeze very well and can be frozen for 1 to 2 months, by placing in a freezer zippered plastic bag or freezer safe container. 

Thaw at room temperature before serving.

Cocoa and powdered sugar-coated balls may need to be recoated before serving if not using immediately.
