Ingredients

1 (8 ounce) can of crescent roll dough

24 cocktail weiners/sausages, patted dry

1 egg

1/2 Tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.  Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate into 8 triangles along the pre-perforated lines. Cut each triangle into three smaller triangles. Cut lengthwise from the tip.
  3. Place cocktail weiner on the wide end of one of the triangles and roll to wrap it up. Place on baking sheet and repeat with remaining cocktail weiners and dough. Leave at least one inch between each pig in a blanket.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to cretae an egg wash.  Use a pastry brush to brush the wash over the dough.
  5. Bake in 375°F preheated oven for 14 to 17 minutes until light golden brown.
  6. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

Storage and Freezing Instructions:

Store any leftover pigs in a blanket in an airtight container or wrapped in plastic wrap in the fridge for three to four days.

Use a freezer safe container to store baked leftovers in the freezer for one to two months.

Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.

Unbaked pigs in a blanket can be frozen for up to three months. Place the assembled pigs in a blanket in a single layer in the freezer on a parchment-lined tray until firm. Once the pigs are solid, transfer them to a freezer bag or airtight container for storage.

The pigs in a blanket can be baked from frozen, but you will need to add a few minutes to the baking time.
