Oreo Cinnamon Buns Without Yeast


A new take on cinnamon rolls with these easy Oreo Cinnamon Buns.  They can be made in a muffin tin or 9x13-inch baking dish. A luscious cream cheese icing for the top with a sprinkle of crushed Oreo cookies makes this a dessert lovers dream!


2 cups all-purpose flour

2 tbsp. sugar

4 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 cup cold butter, cubed

1 cup milk


1/3 cup butter, softened at room temperature

1 cup granulated sugar

2 tsp. cinnamon

1 and 1/2 cups crushed Oreo cookies (one cup for the filling and up to 1/2 cup to sprinkle on top)

Cream Cheese Icing

8 oz. cream cheese, softened at room temperature

1/2 cup butter

1 tsp. vanilla

3 cups powdered sugar


1. Preheat oven to 400 F.  Grease 12 cup muffin pan or 9x13-inch baking dish.

2. In large mixing bowl put flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

3. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. You can use a pastry blender or clean hands to mix in the butter.

 4.Pour in milk and stir to form a soft dough. The dough will be sticky.

5. Turn out onto a  lightly floured surface.  Knead 10 times.

6. Using a rolling pin (or press out by hand), shape into a rectangle approx ½ inch thick and 12 inches long

For the filling:

7.. Cream butter, sugar and cinnamon together well. Stir in 1 cup of crushed Oreo cookies. 

7. Spread over rolled out rectangle, using fingers to spread it around to cover the area. Don't worry about getting right to the edges.

8. Roll up on the long side of the rectangle,  like a jelly roll and pinch to seal the seam and edges.  

9. Score first with a knife to measure out your cut spaces, then cut into 12 slices.  It's easier to use a serrated knife using a sawing back-and-forth motion, rather than pressing down which will squash the dough.

10. Alternatively, you can slide a 12-inch long piece of clean dental floss underneath the dough and cross over the left side with the right to cut through the dough.

7.Place cut side down in muffin tin or baking dish.  If using baking dish, spread out evenly. There will be space between each of the cinnamon rolls and the edges.

8. Bake in 400° F oven for 20 minutes. Check them at the 15 minute mark. They will quickly go from not cooked to browning very fast!

9. Cool on baking rack. If using muffin tin, remove from pan and cool on rack.

Cream Cheese Frosting

You can mix the icing by hand, or using a mixer.

10. In a large mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese with butter for one minute.

11. Add vanilla and stir until combined.

12. Gradually add in powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time Mixing on low speed of mixer.  

13. Once all of the icing sugar is added, mix on medium-high for 30 seconds.

14. Spread icing on cinnamon rolls, then top with remaining crushed Oreo cookies.

Store in refrigerator for up to two days.
