M&M Brownies are easy to make and guaranteed to satisfy your craving for something sweet. They are fudgy and chocolaty with your favourite M&M's in the batter and sprinkled on top of a luscious icing.
These mouth-watering M&M brownies, calling out for a tall, cold glass of milk are over-the-top delicious!
I love making brownies from scratch because they're just so quick and easy to make with great results.
If you've tried my Chocolate Chip Brownies or Chocolate Coconut Brownies, these are more fudgy, more chocolaty and the icing just takes these brownies to a whole new level.
Those two recipes use unsweetened chocolate and I wanted to post a brownie recipe with cocoa powder because it's a different chocolate flavour than the others - especially since it's used in the icing as well.
My boys have named these brownies their new favourite dessert! It's a fudge brownie recipe that I adapted to included the M&M's and the icing.
Let's get to making these brownies!

- if you're using a glass baking dish, the brownies will cook faster, so be sure to keep an eye on them.
- these brownies taste best when they are a little undercooked. Pull them out of the oven once they've pulled away slightly from the edges of the pan.
- frost the brownies while they are still warm for a beautiful, glossy finish
- although these brownies are hard to resist and delicious served warm, the longer they set, the easier they will be to cut and remove from the pan.

Description
M&M Brownies are easy to make and guaranteed to satisfy your craving for something sweet. They are fudgy and chocolaty with your favourite M&M's in the batter. The luscious icing topped with more M&M's makes these Brownies the best ever!
Ingredients
½ cup butter
¼ cup cocoa powder
2 eggs, room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
¾ cup flour
⅛ tsp. salt
Icing:
1 and ⅓ cups powdered sugar
⅓ cup cocoa powder
3 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. hot coffee or water
1 cup M&M's divided (optional add more M&M's)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, melt butter and coca powder over low heat, stirring the cocoa powder into the butter as it melts.
- In a medium mixing bowl, beat eggs until frothy.
- Add in granulated sugar, all-purpose flour and salt. Pour butter and cocoa mixture over top and stir just until combined.
- Fold in ¼ cups M&M's into the batter.
- Turn into a greased 8x8 inch square baking pan.
- Bake in 350°F oven for 25-30 minutes. (Edges will begin to pull away from pan when they are done. These brownies taste best a little under baked).
- Cool on wire rack.
- For icing, combine powdered sugar, cocoa powder, butter and hot coffee (or water) and mix together until combined, then beat until nice and creamy.
- Frost brownies while warm, then top with remaining ¾ cup of M&M's.
Notes
- I like to use ¼ cup of M&M's in the batter and ¾ cup on top but you can adjust the amounts to your taste.
- The icing calls for hot coffee. I like to use the instant coffee granules mixed in boiling water for a stronger flavour. You can easily substitute this with water instead of the coffee.
- Optional - add ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans for additional crunch.

Although the brownie was tasty and easy to prepare, I felt the frosting was much too thin. If you make this, I would suggest adding the liquid a bit at a time until you get a desired consistency.
