Mix together sour cream, mayonnaise, fresh chopped basil, lemon juice, garlic powder and honey and you have this super-easy Creamy Lemon Basil Dressing. You will love how quick and easy this recipe is to make.
A dreamy, creamy dressing
This Creamy Lemon Basil Dressing is best tossed right into the salad, although you can easily spoon it on. It's a thicker dressing, not a thin runny dressing.
If you want a sweeter dressing, you could add a bit more honey. I thought 4 tbsp. was more than enough.
This dressing is great for any type of green salad and also terrific served as a dip for fresh veggies.
My Little Potager Update
Zoe ate the bean plants!
It feesl like only yesterday my little potager was planted and I am please to report that Zoe only tore up and ate 9 of the 10 green and yellow bean plants. She started on the green onions but I guess they didn't jazz her as much as the bean plants.
Since then, she hasn't bothered much except for a few occasions where she thought the lettuce was planted for her snack time. Ummmm NO. She will literally eat anything that dog.
How could you be annoyed at that little face more than five seconds? She has us wrapped right around her finger - or ummmm paw? 🙂
We planted two varieties of mesclun lettuce. Although it was slow to start, it has come onto quickly in the past few weeks.
I could have salad every day for two weeks and still have more lettuce. I will definitely plant it again next year
The tomatoes are doing great also. We planted some yellow varieties this year and they are SO GOOD.
A surprise for my little potager
My talented Dad made this beautiful trellis for us! (Well, my mom, sister and brother also got one)! This is handmade and his own design. It adds so much architectural interest in the garden don't you think?
Morning glory seeds are on the way. They should be flowering and climbing the trellis this week.
The addition of the gardens in the back yard has really made our new house feel like a 'home'.
I have learned a lot this year about vegetable gardening and I look forward to expanding it next year! 🙂
I hope that this lovely recipe finds you all happy and healthy.
How to make Creamy Lemon Basil Dressing
Start with Fresh Basil
You can chop the basil by hand or use a food chopper. You want to leave a bit of texture to the basil so that you get small pieces in your salad.
Mix all ingredients in a mixing bowl
It's really that simple!
Sour cream, mayonnaise, fresh-squeezed lemon juice, garlic powder, honey and fresh basil. Add a bit of salt and pepper to taste and it's ready to serve.
Store leftover dressing in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days.
